First week of the New Year down and back I’m with more purpose, purpose purpose! Nothing like good ole purpose chat. Purpose seems to be on all of our minds right now. We are experiencing an overload of “living my best life,” Instagram post, instant entrepreneurship, tons of videos on pursuing what God has called you to do and most recently – my blog series on purpose :). All of this is great, unless you have no clue on earth what you’re called to do. There’s pressure to appear that you’ve found your place in this world, and you’re living the golden life. And its as if everyday you’re not in place you’re simply running out of time. If you’ve experienced that pressure, you know what I mean. Well, friends, I’m here to save the day with this simple advice. Chill. You already have a purpose. God gave a clear to-do-list in the Word of God. Oh yes, there are tons of tasks for us to work on right away, and I’m reminding you of 3 today! Commit yourself to these 3 tasks while you wait, and trust God concerning your purpose. DISCLAIMER: This is not an article on how to find purpose but instead getting started on the purpose you automatically receive as a born again believer.
Seek first the Kingdom of God. Matthew 6:33 | This scripture is used so often that it goes in one ear and out of the other, but it is KEY. First things must remain first. This is where real relationship with God, reverence of God, and transformation begins. Seeking the Kingdom of God means we’re prioritizing our time, attention, and effort around cultivating a genuine friendship with God. This is more than just reading and praying daily. This is experiencing transformation and discipline by becoming intentional about doing and preferring what pleases God and building the character that reflects God’s nature and what he values. Why is this so important? The more you seek the Kingdom of God, the more realize that all things are created for him, and purpose become less about you and more about the advancement of God’s Kingdom.
Love & Worship God. Matthew 22:37 | In simple terms, loving and worshiping God is, I feel, acknowledging that God desires your attention, affection, and loyalty. Not in a needy way as we humans do, but God is Spirit so love and worship is the exchange of our relationship. The scripture says we are to love God with all of our hearts, all our soul and all of our mind. So, what exactly is loving God with all you heart, soul, and mind? It’s allowing God to change your heart, receiving your salvation for your soul, and changing the way you think daily because you’re committed the God and the Gospel. It is reserving your entire being for what is honorable to God only. Loving God is believing God and obedience to God. It is both the outward and inward expression of using your heart, soul, mind and body to honor God.
Love Others. Matthew 22:39 | I know. Everyone looks really bomb these days on their stage, at their home office, or at their artistically pictured quiet time (guilty) on Instagram. This is all very self-gratifying, but we were not created to give our all – to ourselves. We were created to imitate Jesus who gave his all for and to others. Let everything you do be from a position of love for others. If you’re not sure about how this works, do this simple exercise. Take Corinthians 13:4-5 and where it says “love” or “it” place your name. Speak that over yourself. When you’re interacting with others in social settings, in private, having a good time, having an awful time, happy or upset – evaluate your reaction and responses out of this text. If you cannot validate your actions out of this text, it should not be done. This is the standard of how you treat, serve and honor people.

I want to encourage you in your season of waiting and wondering about purpose. It is not God’s will that we chase purpose but instead chase him! Though it seems to be the craze right now to find purpose, it is more so something that is received from God ONLY. Seek him, love him, worship him, and love others and rely on him to reveal purpose in his timing.
