Hi Guys! Happy “whatever day you are reading this.” If it’s the weekend I hope it finds you well with fun plans or some R&R (rest and relaxation). What are we chatting about today? It’s effortless, so I’ll get into it. Let’s talk about our walks with God. I doubt I am the only one who goes through ebbs and flows with the Lord. There are days that I pray, read the Word, and have conversations with God. On other days, I sit in front of my laptop, prioritizing every distraction possible. Honestly, this was me this week, feeling guilty about spending so little time with Lord on whatever days that may have been. But, you know, I have learned to take everything to Lord. To be open with him and ask for his help. To gain his insight because he has an answer and an opinion on whatever we face. So, God, in his wisdom, gave me such practical and comforting instructions. I want to share this with you.
In the Word of God, we can see on record that God responds to a person’s history and faithfulness. We see how God kept promises to Solomon because of the promises he made to David. We are still under the blessing of Abraham today. God is still honoring Abraham’s faithfulness through this blessing. Why am I saying this? If God responds well to faithfulness, it is in your best interest to remain faithful. But I also want to point out that Abraham and David were not perfect people every single day; they were people who remained faithful. There, that is your relatable moment for this blog point. But I want to pierce you a little bit, David and Abraham are examples, but Jesus is our standard. Jesus, we perfect every day, and Jesus said this one thing that will wrap up this post and hand it over to you as a gift.
“Seek first the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have it’s own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today”
Matthew 6:33 – 34
Did you catch the formula? Jesus charges us to prioritize God’s kingdom and live in the present day. Many times when I am stressing about my walk with the Lord, I’m either comparing it to what it was before or worried about how the decisions I made will affect tomorrow. But if I know God responds to faithfulness, I must also acknowledge that faithfulness is built Every. Single. Day. I have to wake up every day with the revelation that it’s God’s job to honor the past and hold the future. It is my honor and duty to live for him today. This is no magic potion to get you into the presence of God every day. You have to come to the revelation that today is all you have. It is the only time that matters most. Today. Right Now. Is he worthy of the only time you have?
So what do I charge you with? Let’s put into practice to honor God this week, like every day is our only day. Let’s prioritize what we must do daily while still putting God first. Observe how things change for you in just one week. I will be trying this as well—check in with me.
Until next time, Kayla.
