If there’s anything I’m learning over and over again on my spiritual walk with God; it’s to be gracious with myself and always return to Him no matter what. This is especially true for my past history of consistently spending time with God. I’m the type of person that despises routine. I become really bored and I easily distracted. This character flaw has spilled over into my relationship with God a few times and instead Him throwing me away He’s teaching me how to destroy it. I recently came across a technique that has helped me and thought it would be really good for people who are:
A) New in their walk with God and don’t know how to cultivate intimacy with Him.
OR
B) Those who avoid spending time with God because they get bored reading scripture or praying. You may do this already and dont even know. The technique is SOAKING.
What is soaking, girl? Soaking is when you relax and meditate to soft worship instrumentals or worship music. Instead of prayer and reading, you are just laying before God waiting to feel his presence and listen to what he speaks to you. It’s a really simple task to do. Pick you music, lay on the floor, close your eyes and allow your mind to focus Jesus. Focus on him speaking to you, healing you, touching you, instructing you. Imagine that you are in his presence at that moment and follow the peace and the flow of just meditating on him.
As you allow your mind to relax into him you may begin to feel light, or a desire to thank God, and even a desire to pray. Follow that desire even if its just to continue laying there. The point of soaking is to set your personal agenda aside and to allow God’s presence to move you in the direction that he’s desires.
Should you still pray? Yes. Read the word? Yes. Fast? Yes. Soaking is not a substitute for anything the Father has already told us to do. I often find that soaking leads into one of those things. This is just another option to add into your rotation. I’ve found soaking to be very calming and easy (which is what we need right now). Build intimacy with God by just soaking up his presence. I have linked my favorite soaking instrumental right now and my favorite worship song I have on repeat. Hope you enjoy. If you’ve ever tried soaking or will after reading this post; please leave a comment below letting me know your thoughts on soaking.

I’ve never heard of the term “soaking” but just by reading this post, I’m pretty sure it’s a technique I would love. I’m definitely going to start doing this. Good read! 💛
