Hi Guys, this is the final purpose series post! I’ve had a blast writing about purpose. Your response has been amazing, and my stats have actually doubled over the past month. I thank you so much for your support. With that being said, I wanted to make this post very personal. I want to talk about something that I have struggled with and still struggle with from time to time. From the title, you already know what it is. I struggle with putting purpose in its proper place. Like me, you may find yourself consumed with purpose that you neglect to consult God. Or you may work so hard on your purpose you believe it counts as God time – this is especially easy if your purpose is ministry specific. Or you don’t know how to incorporate God into your schedule because you’re booked. Whatever it is, I want to encourage you today that God is still wanting and waiting for you to come to him.
Your purpose was born and formed from a very intimate place between you and God. It says so in Jeremiah 1, that before God even formed you in your mother’s womb, he already knew you an appointed you for your purpose. I am learning very early in walking out purpose that same intimacy is required to sustain it, if not more. There was a time that I was in the dreaming phase, and God dreamed with me. When I was in the planning phase, God planned with me. Now that I am in the doing phase, I realize that God wants to “DO” with me as well.
What does this mean? It means to stay creative, I have to be connected to that intimacy. To be efficient and effective, I must be connected to that intimacy. To be successful, I must meet the standard that can only be found in that intimacy. And God does not see it as me using him or taking from him because he desires that intimacy with me.
This is not an in-depth post, and I did not intend for it to be. I just wanted to chat with you guys and remind you all don’t get so engulfed in saving the world that you forget to be connected to the actual Savior of the World – Jesus Christ. Intimacy with him is all it requires. Set aside time for him, including him, in your process and decision. Build with him and not just for him. Just a reminder God is still wanting and waiting on you to come to him. Because purpose is not your God, He is.
