Grind culture. It runs social media and runs our nerves all at once. Ha! How is that possible? Its narrative pushes the need to be constantly creating, constantly building, and constantly yielding results that eludes to “gettin money and more money”. But there is one positive that grind culture has brought to the forefront of our Generation. Each person is inspired in their own way to be a visionary for themselves. Not in a selfish way, but in a Generational wealth building kind of way. A breaking curses kind of way. Which is both bomb and biblical! But this process starts with an idea or a small delicate dream. Most of the time, we don’t know how or when this delicate dream is going to happen but we know we want it! Then, we all make the same mistake. We tell people who just don’t get it, they just dont respect it, or they just cant see! It immediately makes you feel like maybe you should rethink your plans or maybe you should scale down your vision. Have you ever seen something that others just can’t or refuse to see? I wanna encourage you in those moments. You know I have biblical text for you! Let’s get into it.
In my study time, I was sifting through the book or 2 Kings and came across this text. 2 King 7:1-3 (for the FULL backstory on the text read 2 King 6:8 – 7:3) . The quick backstory is that Israel was in a famine so detrimental that people resulted to eating their own children. The king of Israel was distraught about this. The prophet, Elisha, had a word from God for the king that this famine would be completely turned around by tomorrow. And this is were the revelation comes. “The officer assisting the king said to the man of God (Prophet Elisha), ‘That couldn’t happen even if the LORD opened the windows of heaven!‘ But Elisha replied, ‘You will see it happen with your own eyes, but you wont be able to eat any of it!’” (2 King 7:1-3 NLT).
This is what the text is saying, the king’s officer who is probably not as starved as the rest of Israel but still starving will see the miracle of provision happen but, because of his disbelief, will not experience it. Often times, the people who speak against our visions are the ones who are close enough to us to truly experience it. To witness it from the ground up. To indulge in what it could one day become. There’s a possibility that unless there is a change of mind or heart that the person may see your vision but it will be of no benefit to them. And that’s ok! When people speak against what God has given you; you are not obligated to do anything but continue to depend on God to see it through. I also want to make clear that this does not have to be about rejecting a new business idea. It could be about your desire to go deeper in God, the desire to be debt free, or to break the generational curse of addiction in you family.
Whatever God has spoken to you about the famine areas in your life, we trust His word to be the standard and not the opinion of people. The prophet had given the king a word about the transformative miracle to take place for his country. Even in the face of his own officer speaking negative the king appears to have been silent. I do believe we are responsible for rejecting the negativity spoken over us immediately, but the kings silence spoke VOLUMES. Not every comment or action is worthy of your reaction. God had given the King the ultimate authority to steward the country of Israel. And that included receiving and being in agreement with the word of God on behalf of Israel. Just as God has made you to partner with him as the authority of your life. You decided to agree with the word of God over your life and stand firm. You dont have to waste your time arguing or convincing people who don’t have that authority.
We are to continue praying for those who speak against us. That God will open their eyes and that He will also give them a vision of their own. The kings officer in this story ended up seeing the wealth and the provision that Israel received the next day but was trampled to death by those running to receive what had been miraculously provided. That person speaking against your vision probably isn’t a bad person but, the part of them that could be open to what you have to offer, may be spiritually dead or in the process or dying. Their behavior is probably stemming for lack of experience, personal failure, insecurity, and has nothing to do with you. That is why we don’t harbor anger or resentment over them but we shake it of and continue agreeing with God’s plan and rejecting all offense. We hope that God will show them by his glory upon or lives and revive hope in them.
Stay encouraged in every new beginning of your life. People will speak but God’s word is final. There are areas in your life that God want to change from dry and famished to flourishing. YOU have to see it, YOU have to be in agreement with it, and YOU have speak the Word of God over. Ask God for wisdom and discernment to understand the advice you should and shouldn’t take. And shake of offense, it’s a heavy weight to carry that does nothing for you. I hope this encouraged you or gave you revelation. I’m so grateful that I get to share my journey and my heart with you guys. Until next time, love you guys!
