I know what it’s like to wait. No one truly enjoys seasons of waiting. I posted a simple IG post on trusting and waiting with God and felt the need to write a little more. If I’m honest, I feel like I am in a season of both transition and waiting. I’m in a place where I am comfortable in my own space but yet so uncomfortable in that space. Am I the only one? I know something is coming, I know there is more, and I feel the pressure to be patient and prepare. So as you wait, I want to say be patient and prepare. Here are three things to do while you wait.
Walk with the Lord. It is so easy to get bored with God and what we have as we wait. As we fantasize about the next level,r everything on the present level seems so mundane. We either rush the Lord or become too relaxed. Though you are waiting for a new thing in life, a new thing in the Lord requires your attention. The word of God says LOOK / SEE, that I am doing a new thing. People who walk intently with the Lord will not be caught off guard by the new things God will do in their life. Moses gave his attention to the burning bush when he answered the call of God for his life. His choice to be attentive brought Moses into a season of leadership and freedom for his people. David gave his attention to a woman bathing on the roof. His choice to be attentive brought death, dishonesty, and heartbreak to David and His family. Give your attentiveness to God as you wait; expect to see newness in your relationship with the Lord and in your life.
Water your Grass. I really enjoy the saying, “the grass is greener on the other side because the water it.” What if you feel that God has promised you the grass on the other side. What are you doing with the grass you have now. Are you tending to it? Are you fertilizing the soil? Are you testing what crops yield the best in your soil? Are you aware of the amount your grass requires? Then, when the time comes to receive the grass on the other side, you will be ready. Today, I complained to my sister about a task my boss entrusted to me. I had the horrible response of “that is not my job.” My sister responded, “what if this task is exposure to what you will need to do in your own company one day. Take every task they give you as an opportunity to develop a sense of how you’d do it in your own company.” So, maintain and develop strength in as many areas as possible in your slightly green grass so you won’t have to struggle with those same growing pains while maintaining your new bright green grass :).
Believe it could happen any day now. We know a few things about the Lord. His promises are true. His word never returns void, and it shall not delay. So what does that mean for you and me? The promises that God has given us will happen and will happen in His timing. So we must be vigilant in preparation so that we are in perfect alignment when we intersect with God’s perfect will and timing. The scripture says, “though the vision may tarry, it shall not delay.” Yet, we still experience delays in our lives. It’s not the word of the Lord that delays. It is us who have delayed the word. Delayed in obedience, discipline, character, commitment, breaking habits, and generational curses. We must honestly believe and live like we believe the word of the Lord could come to pass today. So spend your time investing in preparation in whatever form specific to you and what you are waiting for. Don’t delay the promises of God over your life.
This was a super impromptu post. So it may not be perfect, but I felt an urge to encourage you guys in your season of waiting. Don’t feel alone. I am waiting too! But I think the battle isn’t in waiting because we have no choice but to wait. We are incapable of creating God’s best ourselves. But the fight is truly in how we spend our waiting season. You can choose to spend it gripping and complaining, or you can be focused and optimistic about how the Lord is with you day after day and this season and is using every day in this season to enhance your next season. So stay encouraged, my friends. Walk with the Lord. Water Your Grass. Believe it could happen for you today.
